Alphabet Expands Bangalore Footprint with Major Office Lease
Alphabet Inc. has secured 2.4 million square feet of office space in Bangalore's Whitefield tech hub, signaling aggressive expansion in India. The Google parent company leased one 650,000 sq ft tower at Alembic City with options for two additional buildings that could accommodate up to 20,000 employees—potentially more than doubling its current 14,000-strong Indian workforce.
Real estate options give Alphabet exclusive rights to the additional properties at fixed prices, though a spokesperson confirmed only the initial lease. The MOVE comes as global tech firms diversify operations amid shifting visa policies, with Bangalore emerging as a key alternative to Silicon Valley.
